ActUp WA delivers weekly performing arts classes that help build confidence, creativity, and communication skills in a supportive, inclusive environment. Our programs are open to **teenagers and adults of all abilities**, with no prior experience needed.
What sets us apart is that we’re mobile — our team travels across Perth and beyond to bring high-quality creative programs directly to schools, communities, and local groups. While many services are limited to metro areas, we’re committed to making the performing arts more accessible, no matter where you’re based.
Our weekly sessions cover drama, acting, musical theatre, and art, encouraging self-expression through a range of creative disciplines. Participants build skills in improvisation, storytelling, character development, voice work, movement, and more. Classes are designed to be engaging, collaborative, and fun — while still challenging each individual to grow.
Outside of regular classes, participants can also take part in live stage performances and events throughout the year. These opportunities give our actors real-world experience and a chance to showcase what they’ve learned in a relaxed, supportive setting.
Led by experienced facilitators, ActUp WA is about more than just performance — it’s about giving people a platform to express themselves, connect with others, and build lifelong confidence through the arts.
JASMINE RADALJ
FOUNDER AND DRAMA ENTHUSIAST
I founded ActUp in 2024. While working at Telethon Superfins, teaching swimming to people with all abilities, I noticed how naturally theatrical and expressive many of the participants were in the water. Curious, I asked them, “Do you guys do drama?” The answer was no — aside from the swim clubs single annual performance funded by Lotterywest. That simple moment sparked an idea that would soon grow into something much bigger.
Acting helps participants develop not only confidence in themselves but also the confidence to be vulnerable and authentic. Whether it’s performing in front of classmates or a larger audience, I wanted to create a safe space where actors can face their fears, embrace vulnerability, and build self-assurance at their own pace. The lessons learned through drama—like overcoming stage fright or expressing emotions honestly—have a lasting impact on participants' personal growth, enabling them to feel more confident in all areas of their lives.
